Taiji Shibashi Qigong Course
The Taiji Qigong Shibashi (十八), or the eighteen postures of Taiji Qigong, is a set of Qigong exercises that are based on Taiji stances. Unfortunately, most of the Shibashi that is now being taught no longer adheres to the basics of Taiji and the Taiji element has been disregarded. This has led to these exercises being taught improperly, turning them into slow aerobics where the movement of Qi is minimal and weakening their power to heal and bring well-being.
Although this set was brought together in the late 1970’s and early 1980’s, most of the exercises were developed from Taiji with others dating back centuries, even millennia.
The purpose of this workshop is to put the Taiji back into the Taiji Shibashi, to put the Qi back into this Qigong set and to put practitioners in touch with their Qi.
The Shibashi Qigong focus on health and well-being, directing and promoting the flow of Qi through the meridians. Although each of them can be practiced individually, or in any variation, the set flows beautifully, from one posture to the next, producing a feeling of inner calmness and wellbeing.
The health benefits from the Shibashi become clear when they are practiced, properly, regularly and, in effect, you are being proactive with your health and well-being. The Shibashi are easy to learn and can easily be practiced in a restricted space where the Taiji forms would be impossible.
