Five Elements Dance Qigong Course

The Five Elements Dance Qigong is more akin to a small form in that there are steps involved.  With a few modifications , the Five Elements Dance can also be done seated.

This exercise, like so many others, has been tinkered with and embellished over the years.  So much so that the versions that I now see bare little resemblance to the simpler, more straightforward form that I was taught in the mid eighties.  Embellishment can lead to progress and a more potent exercise but I have yet to see a version that is as potent as the original. If it isn’t broken don’t try to fix it!

Like the vast majority of Qigong, the Five Elements Dance requires a quiet body and a quiet mind to listen to the Qi flowing.  Balance, simple movement (physical), focus, and relaxed respiration always produces clearer, focussed, movement of Qi.

This exercise has been a firm favourite, of many of my students, for the last three decades.  It flows beautifully and is easy to learn the pattern so that the energetic journey that it takes you on can be appreciated relatively quickly.
