What is Seitai?
The Seitai Hip Clearance is a method of realignment of the pelvis where the distortion
has been caused by a misalignment of the sacroiliac joint.
There are nine Seitai exercises for hip clearance and they all follow the same principle.
There are two motion barriers for any body movement – the Easy Motion Barrier (EMB)
and the Anatomical Motion Barrier (AMB). Using the techniques of Seitai and/or Sotai
the musculature is relaxed increasing the range of movement before the EMB is reached.
To clear the hips, the less painful leg should be worked on first, the following
movements of the legs should be checked and increase, where necessary: -
- Hip flexion.
- External rotation.
- Internal rotation.
- Extension.
- Abduction.
- Adduction.
- Prone extension.
- Side adduction and Abduction.
- Prone Adduction and Extension.
Seitai assessments of any misalignment of the sacroiliac joint are carried out prior
to any adjustments. These assessments are: -
- Standing – high ileum.
- Standing – forward bending.
- ASIS/PSIS – checking the difference in height between the Anterior Superior Iliac
Sine and the Posterior Superior Iliac Spine.
- Seated – high ileum.
- Seated – forward bending.
Each of these tests give the practitioner the information required to tailor
treatment for the client in order to realign the pelvis and the sacroiliac
joint.
